The Nest III | Swan Teacup Series
'The Nest III,' the third piece in the swan teacup series
This sculpture was made from hand sculpting and painting the mother swan and each of the tiny eggs. The nest was built by me in a similar way to how a swan would have built a nest, by piling up and molding each individual stick, making up over 100 sticks I collected from near my home. I feel lucky in that I had glue to help me with this task, whereas the swans do not have this handy tool! Lichen and feather down (collected from my parrot, Lily's, naturally molted feathers). Cattails and shasta daisies were handcrafted from paper, clay and wire. Epoxy resin is used as the lake "water" inside this vintage teacup with pebbles and real soil making up the ground cover. This teacup sculpture will come with a large, hand-blown glass dome (see second photo).
Feel free to let me know if you are interested in me sending you photos of the other swan teacup sculptures in this series! There is a total of four swan teacups.
