A Taste of Warmth in Winter | Teacup Sculpture
A paper and clay sculpture inspired by the beautiful fragrant winter blooming 'paperwhite' narcissus bulbs I had growing in my home over this past month, adding spring and warmth into the house. They had soothing presence, with a similar essence to drinking tea during this chilly season. The flowers had faded quickly but have left in their wake the inspiration and frozen-in-time paperwhites in actual paper, to enjoy this taste of winter's warm beauty year-round.
As paperwhites can grow in water and rocks, I've placed the crafted paperwhites inside a teacup filled with quartz and resin for a water-like effect. The porcelain teacup and saucer are vintage and made in Japan. I have permanently attached them together for the safety of the piece. The pale snail is sculpted with clay and holds a cruelty-free, naturally foraged real snail shell.
