Young Moonlit Dreams III | Glass Shadowbox
A continuation of the moonlight dreamer series. The first was a wolf cub, second a hare, and now I present a dreaming raccoon. Inspired by a leucistic raccoon named Bowie at a rehabilitating/sanctuary zoo (Big Bear Alpine Zoo) in the mountains near my home.
The unearthly blue glow near the raccoon's head is from a moonstone. The adularescence is created from light scattering between microscopic layers of feldspar. The "fur" on little Bowie was created from down feathers courteously provided by my parrot, Lily, from her natural molt cycles. The flowers are baby's breath, and the cushion moss is real and preserved.
